Balzan and Livori Shine at Summer Strength Challenge
The Malta Weightlifting Association capped off the summer holidays with the Summer Strength Challenge, a competition designed to reward the commitment of young athletes who continued training through the summer holidays.
In the boy’s category, Nathal Balzan came out on top with a combined lift of 117kg, earning 217 Sinclair points. He narrowly edged out Gabriele Frendo, who lifted 144kg for 215 points, while Mattias Mifsud completed the podium with 72kg and 163 points.
The girl’s category saw Emily Livori take first place with a total of 80kg and 125 points. Close behind was Thea Demanuele, who managed 89kg for 118 points, while Mia Sant secured third with 64kg and 107 points.
The event offered an exciting showcase of Malta’s rising weightlifting talent, with athletes pushing each other to the limit in a closely contested competition.
