Commonwealth Games

4 female athletes Tenishia Thornton, Yazmin Zammit Stevens, Roberta Tabone and Elisia Scicluna qualified on their own merit for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.  The Malta Olympic Committee confirmed their participation.

For the first time in the MWA history Tenisha Thornton was selected flag bearer for the opening ceremony of these games after successful results in her last international competitions.

First in competition Tenisha Thornton the youngest athlete in competition competed in the 59kg category placing 8th with a total of 178kg

Yazmin Zammit Stevens competed in her 2nd Commonwealth games placing 6th in the 64kg category with a total of 186kg

Roberta Tabone 71kg Category placing 8th with a total of 191kg

Elisia Scicluna 87+kg Category placing 10th with a total of 185kg

Jesmond Caruana was the national coach for the team.
