Amazing results for our athletes in the European Youth Championships.
Kim Camilleri Lagana, Tenisha Thornton and Rylee Borg together with their coach Jesmond Caruana represented Malta in the EWF championships that were organised in Raszyn in Poland.
The first athlete in competition Kim Camilleri Lagana won the 40kg category Under 15, she lifted 49kg Snatch and 62kg Clean & Jerk and she was crowed the European Champion Under 15. Kim won Silver in Snatch, Gold in Clean & Jerk and Gold in Total. Turkey placed in 2nd and Romania in 3rd.
Kim Camilleri Lagana also won the U-15 overall trophy by winning against all 69 athletes from all different European Countries by scoring 522 Robi points.
Successful year for Tenishia Thornton after she was already crowed IWF World Champion and European Union Champion, now EWF European Champion in the 55kg category Under 17. She lifted 80kg Snatch and 96kg Clean & Jerk. Tenishia won Gold in Snatch, Gold in Clean & Jerk and Gold in Total.
Italy placed 2nd and Turkey in 3rd. In the overall Tenishia placed 4th against all 95 athletes from all different European Countries by scoring 672 Robi points.
Rylee Borg competed in the 73kg category Under 17. He lifted 95kg Snatch and 123kg Clean and Jerk he manged to place 13th.
