Great competition, 10 national records broken

 

The Malta Weightlifting Association organised another competition in preparation for upcoming International and National events.

Five clubs took part in the competition, represented by 15 male athletes and 8 female athletes.  Eighteen of these participants were under 17s.

The Best Male Athlete was Clint Grech with 263 points while the Best Female Athlete was Nicole Gatt with 130 points.

Ten national records were broken by two of the female lifters. Nicole Gatt broke six records in the Youths, Juniors and even Seniors in the 48Kg category with her 35 Kg Snatch and a Total of 85Kg. Destiny Vella Busutill broke the other four records in the 63Kg category, for Youths and Juniors, with a clean and Jerk of 55Kg and a total of 90Kg.

It is important to mention that 100 records have been broken,this year. This is a clear result of the work that is continually being done to improve the level of this sport.
