Great results at the Soroksár Cu
Malta delivered an exceptional performance at the Soroksár Cup held in Budapest this weekend, which featured competitors from over 16 countries. Nathan Mifsud and Aaliyah Gatt emerged as standout athletes, both winning gold medals in their respective weight categories and being crowned Best Youth Lifters, scoring 280 and 203 points respectively. Thanks to their stellar performances, Malta proudly secured both Youth Overall Titles—a remarkable achievement for the team!
Other impressive results included Kaya Curmi Inguanez, who won gold in the Junior 55kg category with 197 points, and Gabriele Frendo, just 12 years old, who earned silver in the Youth U-15 61kg category with 191 points.
Additional solid performances came from Nathan Balzan, who claimed bronze in the Youth U-15 49kg category with 178 points, and fellow 12-year-old Mattias Mifsud, who secured a respectable 4th place in the Youth U-15 45kg category with 174 points.
These outstanding results highlight the bright future of Maltese weightlifting, with young athletes already making their mark on the international stage.
