Jesmond Caruana President of Malta Weightlifting Association was elected as Vice President of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation during the electoral Congress in Gold Coast 2018
36 countries present in the Congress gave their full support in this election to Caruana for the next 4 years.
Gayle Caruana represented Malta during the CWF congress and also she was selected referee for the commonwealth games. This was the first time that a Maltese female weightlifting referee being selected in a high level competition like the commonwealth games.
