Malta’s National Youth and Junior Weightlifters Attend Training Camp in Rome

Malta’s promising young weightlifters recently participated in an intensive week-long training camp held at the prestigious Olympic Sport Center in Rome. This camp served as a crucial preparation phase for several athletes gearing up for significant upcoming international competitions.

The Maltese team featured notable athletes such as Tenishia Thornton, Kim Camilleri Lagana, and Rylee Borg, all of whom are diligently preparing for the World Junior Championships. Alongside them were Kaya Curmi Inguanez, Aaliyah Gatt, and Nathan Mifsud, who are also focusing on international competitions scheduled for later this year.

Leading the team was Jesmond Caruana, the Malta Weightlifting Association’s National Coach, who provided expert guidance and support throughout the training sessions. The camp provided an excellent opportunity for these athletes to hone their skills, gain valuable experience, and train in a world-class facility.
