The Malta Weightlifting Association organized its Annual General Meeting on the 18th January, at the Cottonera Sport Complex.
President Jesmond Caruana, General Secretary Michael Fava and Treasurer Kurt Camilleri, presented their annual reports.
The committee also presented the plan for the coming years with a big emphasis to the upcoming Internationals events, especially this year’s Commonwealth Games, Mediterranan Games and Youth Olympic Games, as well as the road to Tokyo2020.
Ideas and strategies on how to increase the quality level of weightlifting of our athletes, and even the number of children that practice and engage in the sport were also discussed among the present members.
A good number of members coming from four different clubs participated in this AGM. It is also good to note that younger athletes managed to attend this meeting and take interest in the future of the sport.
At the end of the meeting President Jesmond Caruana also presented the certificates to six new national referees.
