Nathan Mifsud Shows Determination at European Youth Weightlifting Championships
Nathan Mifsud proudly represented Malta at the European Youth Weightlifting Championships in Pristina, Kosovo, competing in the 65kg category against Europe’s strongest young athletes.
Mifsud opened his Snatch competition with 96kg before progressing to 100kg. In the Clean and Jerk, he opened with an impressive 117kg and successfully increased his lift to 122kg.
With a combined total of 222kg, Mifsud finished in 9th place.
His performance is particularly commendable given the difficult circumstances he faced before the competition. Mifsud was battling a severe gastrointestinal virus just one day before taking to the platform. Despite this setback, he showed remarkable determination, courage and commitment to compete at the highest level.
His ability to step onto the platform with a strong performance under such challenging circumstances is a testament to his strong character and dedication to the sport.
This result represents another significant achievement for the Malta Weightlifting Association and highlights the value of continued investment in Malta’s young athletes and the development of the next generation of weightlifters.
